Meet Our Human Team

Blake

Animal Presenter/Handler

Blake knows all the important facts about the animals. He can tell you their scientific name, where they come from in the world, and what makes them unique in the animal kingdom. He’s been visiting classrooms with snakes and reptiles since he was a teenager and knows how to make an event interesting (like an event with exotic animals could be anything else). When he’s not introducing children and adults to snakes, lizards, and insects, he’s working in the art department on movies and television shows.

Melissa

Business Owner/Manager & Animal Handler

Melissa does the boring stuff, like send out invoices and take care of tax paperwork. She also helps out at events and can tell you fun facts about the critters - like which ones beg for treats and which ones have sad backstories. When she isn’t working an event for Bugs n Snakes you can find her handling a variety of administrative duties for a Spokane area non-profit organization.

Valerie

Animal Handler

Valerie has worked as an in-person and online educator on a local and international level for years. She is a world traveler, and full of interesting stories about places including New Zealand, Scotland, and Korea. She is also Blake’s sister, and grew up learning not to freak out when baby Cornsnakes escaped in the house, or when randomly handed a nervous Ball python by an equally nervous teacher. We are very lucky to have Valerie working with us this summer and hope she is enjoying herself enough to stick around for a while.
